On Wednesday, May 23 at 9:00p, there will be a program on BB3 in the U.K. entitled above subject. BBC America is not carrying the program, I hope someone on here watches it and tells us how it was.
The sub text says: "Three f the UK's top dentist attempt to save the smiles of four twenty-somethings."
It is accompanied by a picture of a mouth with cheek spreader and the mouth has ceramic uppers and metal lowers. So it looks like they will be talking about braces in the piece, who knows.

The BBC showed this a couple of months ago. This must be a repeat. I wrote about it in the Off Topic Forum here.

Braces are not featured in the programme, by the way.

Wow, how bummed would you feel to be qualified to be featured on that show?
on the other hand it hopefully will empower adults that need to get their teeth sorted to take the leap and do something.
I've known about my bite problem for many decades and it is only now that I feel that getting my teeth fixed is something I can (finally) be brave enough to do.

Too true, Meryaten - most of the shows do go for the quick fix
(bleaching and veneers) rather than what would be best for the patient (braces, oral health education etc). Unfortunately the best option isn't the 'sexy' option for tv programmers.
I will admit...on the strength of seeing one too many 'makeover' programmes I did go to the dentist about 8 years ago to investigate the possiblity of just sorting it all with veneers (I had previous consultations much earlier where I was told it was braces and jaw surgery). Yes...it would have been an EXPENSIVE method but my problem bite doesn't cause any pain whereas it is the look of my top teeth that drives me NUTS...anyway, luckily for me the dentist just said, 'forgetabouit...you gotta get real with this - we can't possibly cover the problem with veneers'. So...here I am 8 years later and I'm now deserpate to get braces on!
So, in a nutshell, I'm sure these shows encourage others to go to the dentist asking for a 'quick fix' but that is good - because at least they are going to the dentist and, hopefully, they will then be given a treatment consultation that would work best for them....instead of just not going to the dentist at all.
