i went monday for my first adjustment and it was nothing big. they changed the ligs and i have a rotated back tooth so they put a small piece of powerchain on 2 teeth to help it align (and its the only 2 teeth that hurt from that adjustment) so it was not a big deal.

When I went for my 1st adjustment it was painful. Even tho it was 3 months after they were put on. After it was just like as if I got my braces on all over again. The eating, and stuff, and pressure, and mild discomfort.

Angel, I have my first adjustment this Friday as well. Will be interesting to hear what they do to you - ligs change, or wires too, etc, so keep us posted, and of course, fingers crossed for no pain :)
Hope it goes well for you, and as painless as possible. :)

Thanks all for the comments. I am very pleased I found this forum.

I like not having to go more often than every 16 weeks.

wow 16 weeks!

See I'd rather go 6-8 weeks (which is what they told me I'd be coming in for) bc for me I feel like work is being done faster!

But my first adjustment this time is only 4 weeks. I actually don't know what they'll do. I was told bottom braces but who really knows at this point. I have had no discomfort at all and sometimes as strange as it sounds I want some....for me if I feel a bit of discomfort I feel like my teeth are actually moving!

I've only had 2 adjustments over 4 months, but each has been 8 weeks apart and the first one hurt pretty intensely the first evening, but then was gone by the next afternoon. My 2nd adjustment didn't hurt at all! I can't believe how fast my teeth are moving, too. I was told 18 mo, but it looks like I won't be in for much over a year if that.

Thats really promising, since I've been given an estimate of 18 months (maximum).

Well, it's an hour since the appointment, no discomfort as of yet. I chose dark blue ligs, I'll post some pictures later and let you all know if I'm screaming in pain yet :D

Wire was left on, just a change of ligs and powerchain on my top teeth. One of my brackets fell off during the appointment as well! So far though, not as bad as I thought it would be.

Angel - no pain, that's great :) Oooh, blue ligs! Did you do colors on both top and bottom?

I'm just back from my first adjustment, too - and also no wire change, just ligs. I chose purple ligs for the bottom, they look great! Clear on top, or else my boss would have a heart attack... Wouldn't want to be responsible for that ;)

I also had some IPR (interproximal reduction, or teeth slenderizing) done on my crowded lowers. OUCH!!!! I had read about that before on this board, but I didn't realize they really FILE your teeth... The filer looked like a really thin nail filer, and she stuck it between two teeth and just sawed. Ugh.

When's your next adjustment? Mine is in 3 weeks again. Turns out that's how it's gonna be the whole time of the treatment - every three weeks. Most people on the board seem to have 6-8 weeks between adjustments, I wonder why my guy does it so often? Go figure...

But here's to time flying by fast, painless adjustments and lots of progress between adjustments :jump:

I have a realllllllly bad camera, just tried taking a few pictures and really didn't turn out well. I will go and buy one tomorrow though, because I want to take pictures so I can see the progress.

kypsis,

Great! Yes, I went for blue on top and bottom. Looks rather well, shame I don't have a good enough camera to show you all (the camera I have is from the stone age, my mobile phone has a brilliant camera, but taking a photo myself didn't turn out well).

The IPR sounds nasty

Next adjustment is 20th of July, 7 weeks.

Amen to that.

Thanks Meryaten :)

Upper teeth feel slightly tender today (it is hardly painful, I suppose 'tender' is the best way to describe it), guess thats thanks to Mr Powerchain there. No problem eating foods though, :D
