quick question...

#1 Post by prettybetty3 »

I posted earlier this week about my elastics...

You know the hooks for the elastics on the metal bands? Well...I don't know if I never had one or if it broke and I didnt notice but I dont have a hook on one of my molar bands...so what I am doing is just trying to stick the band behind a lil piece of archwire. Its annoying because it constantly comes out.

So I guess my question is...#1 is it normal not to have a hook or most likely did mine break or something? #2 since I am still attaching the rubberband in generally the same area does it even matter or should I go to the ortho and get one put in?

thanks Kiwi,

Thats the thing...I dont remember, lol. My mind was so preoccupied with the pain that I didnt even notice if the hook was there from the beginning, i'd imagine it just broke off.

Now that you mention it, now I am a lil worried, I hope I am not putting pressure in a way that will negatively affect movement.

I got elastics today myself and the ortho had to pull out the cleats bc when they place your molar bands on most of the time the cleats get pushed in so she had to pull them out which took a lot of effort. Infact she couldn't get them back out on the left side and said my molar band would be replaced next visit. The other side they were able to but before the rubberbands just kept popping off so that's when she came in and pulled it further out. I wonder if that's your problem as well. I'd call and ask.
