Ok I had 3 consultations and I went with the least expensive one. After today I am wondering about my decision. I am very happy that I got braces but not so happy with my choice of ortho.

First of all I don't remember if I told you but my ortho left the practice and I have a new ortho and now I might leave the practice.

I was supposed to have 2 brackets repositioned, add my lower wisdom teeth into the mix and change my ligs. Well what really happened was he fixed the broken bracket then repositioned the last one on the top right changed my ligs and sent me home. I am so stinking mad. His excuse was that he had an exam to do. I was there before the exam, I am already braced, I come first dangit.

I know I sound selfish and self-centered but I had an hour appointment for a reason and it wasn't sitting in a chair with cheek spreaders and cotton rolls for 20 minutes while he and the assistant did something else. I am just worried that my time will be extended because of this.

I am seriously considering getting a consult from another ortho to see how much it would be to switch.

Delag, I applied to work for the old ortho, not the new lazy one.

Perhaps he did feel that it was not time to include the wisdoms but then why would the other ortho have that planned?

I didnt tell you...I got a job and a heck of a raise. Yes at the time I was pressed. Moving on may or may not be an option I am not yet sure of what I am going to do. My boyfriend says I should complain. I am still too mad to complain intelligently. I hope that made sense.

I guess I just feel like he totally ignored what I said. I hate to be ignored.

I can't remember, but I believe you were the one who was also going to Western Dental?

If you read about my problems with them, then there's one thing you should consider. The longer you stay, the more expensive it will be to high tail it outta there. They charge you $150 for records, $1300 for braces, $130 to transfer to another ortho and $90 per appt. you've had to date. If you're going to go, I'd say go now. Don't wait until you've had 20 appts. and the expense is too high to be able to justify a new treatment.

In my braces experience I've come to realize that getting treatment on the cheap is nice, and will do the trick in a fix, but if you can have the nice competent ortho vs. the mean lame-skilled one, get them!

Thanks for the advice. I will see if the other ortho will still see me. I will call him on monday and set up an appt for next monday as I have my kids this week.

Thankfully I am only working on my 3rd appt.

Well Thanks I am going to try to tough it out for now maybe until the next appt, maybe all I have to do is switch western dental offices to one near my work. When I set this one up it was near work but it isnt anymore. its far and out of the way.
I am starting to calm down and perhaps when that happens I can think more clearly.

I do have to state that while my first adjustment didn't hurt this one did. I feel like I just got my braces on. It's weird. I know it's because of that one repositioned bracket on top but sheesh it hurts. My right upper canine especially and all the teeth behind it.
