Should I be upset, or just let it go???

#1 Post by MsViola »

I had an adjustment on 6/14. During this visit I got powerchains all the way across my upper and lowers. The top powerchain hurt so bad I could have cried. Finally, it was over and I head out with a sigh of relief. In the car I noticed that the assistant had put the wrong color on the uppers (clear). I had recently switched to a light grey (smoke) to avoid staining. She didn't ask me what colors so I assumed she would put the same color back on. Now I am having to be extra careful not to stain the clear powerchain with tea, ketchup or mustard. The thought of having to have it changed early due to staining is not a pleasant one. What should I do? I have a performance on the 4th of July and I hate the thought of my teeth looking dingy due to a grungy powerchain. Should I wait and see or ask for the color change now?

Meryatn : Thanks for the reply - sounds like good advice. I was referring to the pain, it was terrible for 2 days. My teeth are still quite sore even now. My Ortho has powerchains in almost every color possible. The powerchain she took of was smoke colored. I had no problems with staining even after 8 weeks.

Meryaten: Unfortunately I have had a lot of "discomfort"........heck lets call it what it is PAIN  with every adjustment. I am a tough person with a high tolerance of pain so this has been an experience  .

I am still glad I did it :jump:

I also experience a lot of pain when getting my upper power chains changed - it really is quite excrutiating! I have now gone for colored chains, so that I do not feel like I have to change them so often!

I would definitely talk to your ortho and see if they are prepared to swap them out for you nearer the time - and then make sure you take some Advil or Tylenol about a half hour before!!

Good luck!!

sam: Thanks for understanding. I called the office today and they apologized and gave me an appointment to come in next week.

My mouth hurts really bad sometimes for days after an adjustment. It is kind of an insult, when time and time i read "you must be sensitive" "i never have any pain" :| Am I weak for feeling like someone hit me in the mouth after i get new power chains? I hope not!
I totally feel for you though, i HATE when they put new ones on. It's pretty uncomfortable. Good luck though, I bring a friend along so i can whine to him and get sympathy ;)
