Spacers Hurting

#1 Post by lily1 »

Nine days ago I had my four wisdom teeth extracted. Four days ago I had spacers put in and now my teeth feel weird. If I press my tongue against my teeth (near the spacers) they hurt really bad... like someone is punching them. Is this normal? I don't get braces on until the 13th! Thanks!

That's wonderful news that you'll be getting braces on the 13th of this month! The pain of the spacers is normal. I experience a lot of pain when I got my spacers (I had them twice- before I got my braces and at my first adjustment). But take some pain relievers and use a salt water rinse. Eventually the pain will go away. My braces are off now, but I'm telling you this, because I'm a person who has had experience with that kind of pain and suffering.

Braces Came On: August 2nd, 2005
Braces Came OFF: April 19th, 2007 :-)o

yes it is normal to have pain with spacers. Some people think the pain is worse than when you have braces. I didn't have too much trouble with them, but yes they hurt. Take some pain killers & I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the replies, it isn't as horrible pain like teeth extraction... but achy is right, it's a different feeling if you've never felt it before.
