dont know what to do

#1 Post by minime2016 »

I'm going to be a sophmore in highschool. i have been asking my regular dentist for about two years if i need braces and he has always said no until my last appointment; he said that id be a good canidate for invisalgine so he gave me a name for an orthodontist. I went to see the ortho and he said that if i only needed to straighten my teeth that i could get invisaligne but since my bottom jaw is not far enough out i would not be satisified with my results, so i need regular braces with rubberbands for two years. I have told people that i need braces and they never understand why because they see nothing wrong with my smile. The only people who tell me i should get them is my family. So i really dont know what to do-should i get invisaligne and may or may not be satisfied with my results? should i just get cermaic braces with rubberbands for two years? or should i try lingual ones? and this may sound stupid but is there anyway that i could have invisaligne to straighten my teeth and slightly move my jaw and then get four brackets with rubberbands? im just really upset about all this and i dont know what to do. i really dont want my pictures for the next two years with braces, because in my opinion people do look a lot different with braces on.

I would tell you that as a broad generalization, regular braces will give you a better result than invisalign will. I know that it seems that braces will be a real hassle, but if your orthodontist thinks they will give you a better result, it would probably be worth it to go ahead with the braces. I see many adults come into my office who wished they had gotten braces as a teenager. In some respects your treatment may actually be easier now than if you were to decide to have your bite corrected down the road.

It's up to you of course, but I think you'll find that your time in braces seems to fly by!

Remember: your orthodontist knows your dental history and orthodontic condition best. I can guide you toward better orthodontic information than if you were left on your own and hopefully in doing so play a small part in your quest to achieve a beautiful, fully functional smile, but you should consider your orthodontist the best source of information.

i wanted braces since i was 14, back then it wasnt so common. Now i nthe 12th grade and 18 I wanted braces to fix my look also eating habits, brushing and al lthat to change.

Being in high school is not a big dealwith braces. I thought I would look bad but everyone says they barely notice. And if they did it looks good. The more you read thsese stories the more encouragement you wil get:)

i would get braces now while ther eis a chance. Who knows costs might sky rocket i nthe future.
