Britt, I'm so very sorry to hear what you went through. The amount of extreme pain you reported certainly did not seem normal, and I'm glad you did what was right for you. It makes me feel badly, because your earlier pre-brace posts seemed to indicated how excited you were to get your braces.

I hope you and your ortho can find a solution at your next visit. Perhaps there's an underlying cause that needs to be treated before you start orthodontic treatment.

The very best of luck to you!

I had a lots of pain when I got my braces. But the pain I had was aching, my whole mouth ached. My teeth were very sensitive, but I did not have extreme pain like you had.

Maybe you could test Invisalign? You could at least take trays off if the pain gets too much. Or somekind of retainer thing.

I really appreciate all of your care and concern out there. I am just waiting for my appointment next week to see whats next for me or my options.... I do know that I am feeling 100% now and back to myself!! :P I guess KK was right," there is no such thing as something being for everyone." We'll see what journey lies ahead for me....

I'd give it another try. Possibly it was the shock of it all? Maybe just do the molar bands and then some brackets a coupe of weeks later? It is quite a shock to have all of this stuff in your mouth all at once. It feels 20X larger than it really is.

You will likely get used to it, but it takes a few weeks. It kind of feels like you are walking around with these big huge "things" sticking so far out of your mouth that you should be able to look down and see them!

I am about ready to get mine off, and, to be honest.....it feels like this just started up a couple of months ago! The time flies....

Go talk to your orthodontist and see what he/she has to say. Stock up on Advil, too!!!
