So happy i have braces! Inspiring story

#1 Post by loulou123 »

Hi

i found out on thursday that my wonderful orthodontist and my equally wonderful teeth (properly 1st time ever ive called them that!) have managed to get my top teeth into such a good position that i no longer need double jaw surgery and only lower jaw now

Ive had a rough ride of it at times with my teeth and at times the braces journey hasnt been great either as ive had alot of problems with ulcers, due to a allergy making the inside of my mouth sore and the braces then creating ulcers, headaches and migrines caused by me grinding my teeth at night, and some pain from the braces and powerchains. :?

But now its all been made so so worthwhile, and im so glad i got my braces.

Im writing this as i hope that it will inspire anyone whose having a bad time with there braces at the moment, that there really is a light at the end of the tunnel. Sure i have been incredibly lucky to avoid top jaw surgery, but im sure that there will come a time when everyone of you is thankful they went ahead with the treatment.

Just hope i can remain this positive for the rest of the journey now, as i still have 18months-2 years till my braces will be removed! Lol

Wow, that's GREAT!! congrats!!!

I'm glad you posted this, because my ortho is REALLY hoping (and I, even MORE so) that my braces will be able to correct enough that I don't need to have jaw surgery at all. :Questions: Only time will tell, but I would be the HAPPIEST person alive if it did! And you definitely just gave me hope! lol

Well, there you go. Great that things have gone so well for you. May they continue!

Verticaltrailmix, for what it's worth I was in a similar position to you at the start but will get there without surgery.

If there is one common thread I find among the Archwired family is that most of us come to share our experiences. It seems that sharing my help each of us have a better understanding and tolerance of the wired process. I think if you were to ask the group as a whole, most would say braces have been a good thing. We may have concerns about our ortho or may not understand part of our treatment or want the job finished, but we would as a majority recommend it to someone else.

I'm glad you're doing well. Let's hope everyone else will be soon.

And as always....

Try to have FUN with the process.

Surgery is my best bet to help reduce or control my TMJ issues. With that being said I'm looking forward to having the surgery although I'm dreading the recovery and the possible side effects of the surgery. My biggest fear is that my insurance company won't approve it. While I expect it to take three or four submissions for pre-approval, I'm not sure how I'll deal with it if they turn it down on the eighth or ninth time.

Thanks for a good story. I'm getting my braces [if all goes well] on Thursday... I have to say I'm equally dreading it and equally looking forward to the changes it will allow me. I like to read all the positive things I can.... 8)
