Slack in Archwire?

#1 Post by Odessa »

Hello Everyone!
As I recentley posted, I got my braces on Sept 19th. I am 1 week in to treatment and I am doing great! I really haven't had any pain just minor discomfort (like a 2 on a scale of 1-10). Last night when I was flossing I noticed that my archwire had a little "give" in it. When the assistant at my orthodontist's office was installing it she said that I would feel a little slack sice they had to skip a tooth. My front upper teeth fit together in a V shape and my eye teeth are turned sideways. They could not get the archwire to pass through one of my eye teeth but got it into all the other teeth. My question is- Will I still have movement with this much slack? I always envisioned archwires to be tight against the teeth. This is probably why I haven't been in much pain. Has anyone else dealt with this?
