Impacted Canines

#1 Post by NishaGh1 »

Hey y'all!

This is kinda hard to explain since I don't have a camera anymore (someone stole it!). I think my canines are impacted or something. What I mean is that they are higher up than the rest of my teeth. I have rubberbands on to bring them down and they've already moved down quite a bit, but not enough. I'm not really sure how much more they can come down. Has anyone else dealt with this?

Impacted Canine NEED SUGGESTIONS!!!

#2 Post by rcballard »

I have an impacted canine. i had my first surgery in July 2006 to expose the tooth. The tooth only moved a tiny bit in 9 months so I went back in for a reexposure. The tooth has come down a little more but It doesn't seem to be moving. My ortho has tried several methods of pulling on the tooth; elastics on a weird configured wire, a metal bracket hooked on my back molar acting like a swing arm attached to the impacted tooth. You name it. Now after 15 month of tugging he is saying I should have it removed and preped for an implant. does anyone have any suggestions? Should I yank it or try another surgery? Any other methods ya'll know of to help pull it down? I have read about putting an anchor implant on the lower behind my bottom teeth and using it to pull it down. What should I do? I hate that I have put in all this time and now I have to pull it!!
