i had four taken out, in the same way bratsche did, two on the left, then two on the right a full week later. i was really nervous about the pain, and it came as a huge surprise to me that it genuinely didn't hurt at all! i did make sure not to drive to the appointment though, as i react strongly to anaesthetic, and was more than a little woozy after the pulling! what i remember is my dentist pushing up into my gum quite firmly at first to enable him to pull the tooth out - and the joy of learning how to eat on each side of my mouth independently afterwards! luckily, the mouth is an expert at healing up, and it really won't be long before you're wondering how you ever managed to fit a tooth in the space left behind

ooh, and i'd recommend buying a couple of nice soups and ice creams just to pamper yourself afterwards - again, best of luck, although i'm sure you won't need it :-1
I am actually driving myself there and all my friends and family think I’m crazy lol. But to my understanding I won’t be put under anesthesia just numbed up so I should be fine (I hope). I had my wisdoms removed before and I was knocked out and also went to the oral surgeon. And you’re right about the mouth and healing up quickly. I think your mouth is one of the things that heals up the quickest too.

I wish you a speedy recovery. Sometimes teeth have to be removed by every ortho. Mine has a policy of not removing teeth but she'll admit there's times when it is the only option.

After seeing three orthos who all said the same thing, I think you can be assured you're doing the right thing.

I've had all my extractions with local. The thought of it is actually worse than getting it done.

hey everyone! thanks for all your replies. I am back home now after getting my extractions done. Currently I am still numb and bleeding a little bit but nothing too bad. I have to say that everyone who said extractions are not that bad and the worst part is working yourself up is 100% true! My dentist and his assistant did a great job. It only took an hr. I am just hoping for great and fast healing now that the worst part is over. Thanks everyone so much!! I'll let you guys know how it goes.

I found that rinsing with the warm salt water rinse or a glass of warm water with a teaspoon of mouthwash made my gums feel better. Hope your recovery is quick!

Good luck with your recovery! I had four teeth removed and was very scared. It was absolutely the right decision though. The healing is a pain, but just try to be careful and patient with eating and drinking. Remember, no straws!
