ok so i got my braces and i got silver. i figured that i would just overall like the silver better. it wasnt as easy as the first time i got my braces on tho. i got uppers and lower on yesterday...and got a bonded retainer removed. i can deal with the pain of getting cement removed when i know i will be getting my braces off and have nice teeth....but the pain before all of that kind of sucks. oh well....

the assistant had a hell of a time getting my wires on....throwing in a comment of this is going to hurt tomorrow...lol

i got clear ligs. i really wasnt asked....she just said im guessing clear ligs and i said yes. i really knew that i would be shocked by the all metal look after having metals and ceramics and knew i would be sorry if i got the colors. i will save that for next time. ok well here are some pictures....my teeth have actually moved some before i took these pictures.

smiles

Hi,

maybe I am wrong, but I think both your lower arch and your upper laterals look
already better !

I understand why. You already got square ones if I see this right. This is quite some
start you are having there. Good luck !

Hi Lala!
You are sure brave, and I think you made a wise choice!
To be honest, I cannot see much but a beautiful, perfect smile, in your before pictures. But I understand, neither could my friends before I got my braces. I totally know what it is like being an older teen with braces. I am sure I look younger than 17 too. But, in your pictures you look a little older then 19, so maybe you still look 19 with your braces on,hehe.
Anyway, I think what matters is that YOU are pleased with how your teeth look, at least I know that when I get my braces off I will be much more confident smiling:D!
Hey, I'll have my braces on for not more than 6 months too! If you want a "support buddy" feel free to personal message me on here!I also have msn: mouna_din@hotmail.com. That is my e-mail too.
When we both get our braces off we can go party together! LOL. I live sort of far away though( Norway). But that would be fun if we got them off at aproxametely the same time.
And oh: You look very pretty in your pictures, so I am sure the braces will only make you look even cuter;)
Take care! - Mona

they did some ....intra something shaving between my bottom 6 teeth and my upper laterals....so i would imagine that is why they moved so quickly...the space had already been made for them. yea...i noticed that they are pretty big wires. but my ortho knows i deal with pain very well.

im just aggravated because i cant bite down right now....my teeth next to my laterals(CUSPIDS???) are moving and interfearing with my bite...so my mouth has been slightly ajar since yesterday. as with everything im sure this will pass eventually.

regulering17....thanks for the kind words. :) it was more of a slippery slope that my teeth were following. it was one tooth...then a few more...the a few more and i just could not be certain where they would finally end up. so i thought it best to stop the movement in the wrong direction now and start the movement into the right direction. when i dont smile and show my braces...i do look my age or older...but when i smile...WOW...it takes a few years off...it doesnt help that i am only 5 foot 3 so.....im short....i guess at least ill have my braces off before im 21....so i wont have to worry about people not beliving my licence...lol

Imj0614....i could just imagine the looks people had when seeing you pregnant. lol....i get looks like that when people see me with my boyfriend....hes 22 and im 19...now when we are together...it looks more like 22 and 16....lol....but oh well.

Smiles everyone

Your teeth should be done fairly quickly right? They look great now, I can't wait to see what they look like after round 2.
Upper and lower 1st premolars extracted
Uppers braced 4/6/07 & Lowers braced 4/20/07
ceramic brackets and rectangular arch wires
Est. term: 30-36 months
De-banded: 3/04/09 w/ LBR and U&L Essix

Hi sweetheart,

How are you doing today? I'm sorry things didn't go so well the first time. I hope things go better the second time. Just hang in there, honey, and know that you have my blessings. You're a very sweet girl and don't you forget that. Whenever you're in pain, just remember that every single touch of pain is one step closer to a new, beautiful smile.

Love and Peace,

Ashley

Six months of braces now at a reduced cost sounds better than living with something you're not happy with that could get worse down the road and take a lot longer to fix and cost a lot too.

What do think of your metal brackets compared to your ceramic brackets? I think if I had it to do over I would go with metal instead of ceramic.

i actually dont mind the metal brackets. so far i think they are a little more comfortable and smaller. Ceramics were right for me the first time. i was in high school...i wanted to be able to go to prom, homecoming, and have school pictures without big metal braces.....

right now...metal braces are perfect for me. i dont really have anything exciting coming up....so im rockin' the metal mouth look. now everyone just has to encourage me to get colors! i think i might chicken out again next time.....but i really dont want to. i could always ask them to just put a few on and let me have a look...and see if i like it ya know. right now i have clear ligs and im guessing those will be pretty stained in the next month...and since i have 2 months till my next appointment....maybe ill go in early and get my ligs changed.

i know that in this braces part deux....i want to try purple ligs, different pink ligs, baby blue ligs.....and MAYBE green and red for christmas...that is the combo that im not sure about....hmmm....ill have to think about it.

oh and right when i was told i could get them at a reduced cost....i said OK. i knew i would KICK myself if i didnt get this all fixed now and knew that it would be better in the long run.

Glad to hear everything's going well for you.

Re your teeth moving, did they do that with a bonded retainer....?

they did move with a bonded retainer. what happend was my bonded retainer broke about 6 months after i got it put on. i had to wait like a week to get it fixed and i had slight movement. i got it fixed...but the teeth had already moved.....and then i broke it again about a year later and my teeth moved some again. i have essix retainers too but thats a long story. basically, after i got the bonded retainer fixed the first time, my essix retainer would no longer fit....

my advice for anyone getting a bonded retainer.....make sure you have an essix to back it up at all times!
