Well everyone, after posting on this board for the last year i finally got off the startin blocks and into my brace journey.
Today i had my TPA fitted, felt a bit wierd and when eating i am continually convinced that it is falling out!! Not too many bad side affects as i have read but maybe i just have a big mouth
I am going to see the hygenist on Monday. She has been really good as she went through the smae process not long ago. Hopefully i should get my extractions done next month and full braces the following month.
I'm not sure i should be looking forward to this but believe me after putting this off for 8 years i am keen to get this going. I can't wait!!
Hi Chalky, I've had my TPA in for about 3 weeks now and im so suprised at how quickly i got used to it! i admit, i had read bad things about sore tonges and soreness etc but i havent had much of that at all!
the only time i have a bit of soreness is when ive been talking too much and the hooks on the side of the molar bands starts to rub on my cheeks (but i just stop talking - well try!) and that does the trick!
your brace journey sounds quite like mine, Ive also had two extractions this week then full braces are going on in about two weeks time, i cant wait either, well the quicker they are on, the quicker they are off!
Its good to know that someone is going through the same things as i am be it a few weeks in advance, especially someone in th UK. Keep in touch and let me now how it goes, how it all feels, what all happens e.t.c.
How were the extractions. There my next step. As i said im eager to get going but pulling out good teeth?? Does it hurt? whats it like? what do they do?
yeah, i wasnt jumping for joy when i was told that some healthy teeth would have to come out, i have no other option as i have quite bad crowding in my mouth.
well the actual extractions were not as bad as i had imagined, there was alot of pulling this way and thay way but they seemed to come out ok, i was in for about half an hour altoghether and getting the jags wasnt bad at all. i was ok that night, but my whole face ached the day after! my bottom jaw was in agony, i think just from the pushing/pulling the dentist had to do. to be honest, its still a wee bit sore just now round the holes and i had them pulled a week tommorow. its more a horrible feeling than anything, having two gaping holes in your mouth!
i was a little concered duting the week there as i had lots of white stuff forming round the extraction sites so i went back to the dentist on friday, she had a good look and said that although its unpleasant, its normal, phew!
anyway, i hope things go good with your extractions, let me know how you get on.
when are you getting your braces? is it both top and bottom? ceramics or metal?
I think i will be getting my teeth out in about 4 weeks. sounds a long time but i have to get the treatment to work in around my job. its a bit of a pain but hopefully it won't prolong the treatment too much. 4 teeth though. .probably 2 at a time. i have crowding as well. christmas time with big spaces and all that good food, not exactly looking forward to it!!!
looks as though i will be metal top and bottom. probably in January, again delays because of work. The tpa is a bit sore on my left side so the braces will probably be much the same. probably be eating soft foods, very slowly for a while .
What braces are you getting? Any dates? How long are they going to be on for?
