Aint been around, but got a question

#1 Post by jaswi »

Been lurking even though I haven't been posting much. Got a question for yall. Is it common for an orthodontist to re-shape teeth? Like grinding or filing them to be shaped nice? I have several that have always had somewhat jagged edges. I seem to remember when my sister had braces about 12 years ago they made all her teeth look good, but cant remember. What point in treatment would they do it?

I had one tooth reshaped after I had my braces for 11 months. It was chipped and he did a minor reshaping. He plans to do a complete cosmetic reshaping after my teeth are completely straightened but he wanted to make that one look better. I did not ask for it to be reshaped, it was my ortho who wanted it done.

I didn't realise this could be done! I hate the shape of my front two teeth they really kind of ridgey at the bottom. My ortho hasn't mentioned this to me do you think I could just ask her on my next visit?
Oh and do you think it would cost extra? Oh I would be just so happy if I could get this done!!

I had a number of my teeth narrowed (IPR) at the first appointment- so that the teeth have spaces to move into. But my case is funky.

Im going to get this done as well. My ortho will do it at the end of my treatment and its included. I dont think it will be painful or anything, but I cant help to wonder :?:

For anyone who has done it before, once your braces procedure is completed and your teeth are filed...will you have to get it done more than once?
