Anybody left with an OVERJET after braces?!

#1 Post by genoisegurl »

Hi! I recently posted about having to get 6 teeth extracted. Thanks to everyone that helped give me advice.
I got 2 upper premolars extracted when I was little. Ortho wants to extract 2 lower premolars to relieve the severe crowding. However, since I'm also missing one incisor on the bottom, he said I will have an overjet at the end of braces. anybody have this problem? I'm spending so much money and time and pain for braces, do I really want to be left with an overjet?? :(

What size of overjet your ortho was talking about?
My overjet before treatment was 6 mm, and my lower incissors touched the upper gums. I havent had any extractions, so it might be i end up with some overjet. But I hope that my lower incissors touch my upper teeth. At the moment my lower incissors do not touch anything.

My ortho didn't say what size the overjet would be. Is he actually able to predict this?
