Hello,

I have had my brace on for 8 days now.

The extractions were by far much worse than having the brace put on. My teeth are still are bit tender but nothing major. I still find it sore to bite into anything so I just chop everything up nice and small and pop it straight in!

I was so excited about having my brace fitted that it was almost an anti-climax. twenty minutes later with no pain and it was all done! :D

The fun part was learning to floss all over again and trying to figure out how to use that little packet of wax! Thanks to this website I am now up and running and have sorted out my routine already :D

Good Luck for B day

Hi, Im getting mine fitted on Wednesday morning, haven't been thinking about it much until last night when I went to bed, couldnt sleep and even think I was dreaming about it!! Really nervous, I only went to see about getting them last Tues so not had much time to think about it, its been so fast!! I wanted to get my two front teeth straightened out a bit for my wedding next year, so Ill have them on 8 months then they'll take them off for the big day and ill get them back on after my honeymoon. Ive wanted them fixed for years but my own Dentist said it wouldn't make much difference and I'd need to have teeth pulled out to get it done but I don't need any extractions and the ortho said my teeth would look really different so not to happy with my own dentist at the moment!!

Let me know how you get on and we can compare stories!!

Well everyone...they're on! its feels really strange! it didnt take long at all for them to go on and it wasnt sore or uncomfortable (but thank goodness for the recomendation to wear lip balm - those lip separators really dry your lips out!) :)

my teeth at the moment feel a little bit sore but the ortho did say that was to be expected.

I ended up with 9 ceramic on top (was only meant to be getting the front 6 in ceramic but for some reason he just done them all!) and metal on the lowers. One tooth on the top hasnt joined the gang, he is going to wait until a few of the other teeth have moved back to give it more room.

Im quite happy with the way they look, i dont think there that bad/noticable - ive posted a pic here to let you all know what the look like! sorry its such a bad picture, my camera isnt the best!

3 cheers for my bday going smoothly so far! :-88

my b-day is this friday. I am TORN as to whether i want to do the ceramic or metal. i have heard the pros and cons of both and done TONS of research. as you have BOTh....do u suggest one over the other? I'm worried mostly for vanity purposes. I know alot of adults w/ braces, and it really doesn't seem noticeable. But I do feel it will look unprofessional and childlike.

Ahh!!! Any input/opinions are appreciated!

I've had both ceramics and metals. I had to switch to metals due to a bonding issue with my teeth's enamel and the ceramic's glue. I much prefer the metals. With that said, you are the person who will be most effected by your braces. Your behavior will effect whether or not they make you child like and unprofessional.

Hi everyone!

just a wee update on how things have went since my braces were fitted 24 hrs ago...

well my teeth are still a wee bit sore, but only when i try to chew anything, just sitting in a relaxed position, i hardly even feel them.

jlaur122, my preference was to get always ceramic on the top teeth, as i was also worried about how noticible they would be. and i think i have made the right choice with the cermic on top and metal on lowers. the ceramic brackets do seem a bit bigger than the metal though. ultimately its up to you, and how comfortable you will be for the duration of your treatment. I hope it all goes well on friday, post and let us know!
