What kind of lipbalm do you use?

#1 Post by adultbraces »

Braces make lips dry right?
With this windy weather my lips are already peeling even before brackets. I was wondering which lip balm do you all use.
Any recommendation for sensitive skin?
My lips breaks out on cosmetic lipsticks and lip gloss.

Common myth. My dentist refutes that, says carmex does not dry out your lips at all, it's just like using vaseline.

Salicylic acid is as safe as aspirin. It helps Carmex lip balm, in combination with other ingredients, as an antiseptic and a cold sore drying agent.
But Carmex has plenty of lubricants in it so I'm sure your lips feel good and slick. :D Some people prefer the greasy feeling of petrolatum. I personally don't like that feeling - but to each his own.
I didn't say it didn't have salycyclic acid- it just doesn't dry out the lips like you mentioned.

I like Burt's Bees or a lip balm offered by Mary Kay.

If I'm at home, I use petroleum jelly (Vaseline).

I'm trying to use up my current supply of lip balm so I can try some of the ones offered at Bath and Body Works.

My lips are so dry from the headgear that vaseline isn't enough and I've resorted to putting Eucerin cream on them, which is designed for super dry skin rather than lips and contains urea. Tastes a bit unappetising but at least it means I'm not licking it off

I use Nivea Lip Care. It keeps them soft for ages and the one I use (Velvet Rose) has a hint of pink colour in it which gives your lips a nice soft natural sheen.

My normal choice is the medicated chapstick but if not i use palmers cocoa butter lipbalm. I put it on twice a day when i'm going to, and leaving work-otherwise i'd forget to use any at all!

I have used several kinds but the one I like the most is one that I got by chance actually. This summer when I bought new suntan lotion there was a lip balm attached for free. Its Banana Boat with aloe vera. I love it! I also use vaseline at night if my lip balm isn't near by. I will use almost anything!!! Lori

I just use regular Chapstick brand lip balm, and on top of that MAC lipstick in Freckletone, followed with a layer of Chanel glossimer in Coral Reef.

They key to smooth sexy lips is to exfoliate them! I suggest putting some creamy face lotion on your lips and then use the towel to rub all the flakes off or use a baby tooth brush. They key is exfoliation!! Not the lip balm, you need to exfoliate to get rid of all the dead skin cells. And of course use a good "rich" moisturizer around your lip area.

I'm not surprised it tastes unappetising Lisa... urea is what gives our urine that lovely ammonia aroma! Not sure which is worse, the acid or wee??!!

Besides, the skin on our lips is different to the rest of our skin. Why don't you try Blistex Relief Cream instead - has a slightly medical taste, but that does fade...
