Getting toward the end?
My ortho. made some interesting comments yesterday but was off to the next patient before I could ask him to clarify. He said that we are "getting there" and is having me come back in 4 weeks instead of 8 for "fine tuning". I believe he said something about getting a titanium wire that won't bounce back? Not sure if I heard that right or what that really means. I am now 6 months in and was told my treatment would likely be 6-9 months. If anyone can give me any indication of where I might be in my treatment based on these comments, I would really appreciate it. My ortho. just doesn't take the time to talk to me and I have no idea where I am in the process! Help!
Hi everyone. I'm just bumping this to try again for some input. I went in today for a comfort visit. It seems that they are hinting to me that I am almost done but they seem to be intentionally vague. Is it common for an ortho to be hush-hush toward the end of treatment until they are sure of the removal date?

Personally if I was an orthodontist I would not want my patients to know for sure that they would be getting there braces removed cause I woulden't want to be the one saying hey you get your braces off in a week and turn around and treatment lasts 4 months longer If I knew for sure I would say that you are more then likely getting close to the end of your treatment.

Yeah, to an orthodontist "almost there" can mean months lol ... I have two who do my braces (student and full ortho, at Ohio State's dental school). They said something like, "Wow, that was a quick treatment." I got all excited, only to find out that this meant I "only" had 3-4 months left ... grr haha. Hang in there, though, it'll be worth it in the end!
