Ive continued to eat popcorn, steak and apples so for me it won't be to do with food. However, i think i will go for teeth whitening once ive finished in these things.

A couple of days before I got braced we had a meal of barbecue spare ribs, corn on the cob, chicken wings, crusty garlic bread and crunchy salad. I never thought twice about it at the time, but that's going to be my first meal after I get my braces off as there's no chance in the meantime!

I'm going to make sure I do lots of big cheesy grins at every opportunity too

Oh yes - whitening process and replace some amalgam fillings with white ones.

I don't get why people should have to stay away from ribs, garlic bread, chicken wings and a crunchy salad? These are things I eat on a daily basis and have no problems with my braces so far.

The only thing I've done since being debanded is bite corn off the cob. Otherwise, it's "business as usual".

Again, why couldn't it be done whilst braced? I do it all the time and lately I've gotten really good at eating the kernels off with out getting them all about my teeth and brackets.

Miss Smiley, I'm with ya. I've eaten pizza, chinese food, garlic bread, chicken wings/legs, pork chops, spare ribs and steak without adverse event. If I can get it to my back teeth to chew, then I eat it.

The only things I totally avoid are whole apples and whole raw carrots which have to be bitten into with the front teeth, and sticky candy like toffees (don't want to pull off a filling or bracket and it's murder to clean off my Nance arch) I reckon I could bite an apple now that i have stronger wires on my uppers, but I think I'll wait till debracing, just to make sure.

Hehehe, I cheated and bit into small granny smith apples. I really wanted something tart/sweet/healthy and only had an apple on deck. I couldn't find a knife that wasn't plastic and went in for it. It wasn't easy but it was do-able. I did have a harder time with carrots and gave up after a couple bites. But I am looking forward to FLOSSING with out wires!!!!!!

Positively GRIN for weeks on end!!!

You guys hit them all! I have either an apple or a carrot in my hand almost daily and I sorely miss biting off a chunck before I share with the horses, but I just don't dare snap off a bracket again.

Teeth whitening for sure!

Denise, excellent idea! There are a couple teeth of mine which are becoming more noticable and one of them the filling had 'bled' (for lack of correct terminology) into the tooth a little. I would love to get compostits on those.

Pick out/design a fun retainer---Meryaten inspiration.
