They left a gap in my smile!

#1 Post by LadyGoddess »

I'm 23 months into my braces treatment. They have to be off before April. I have a lot of complaints about my orthodontist's office (one being that no one besides the crazy head guy and the receptionists speak English), but I have one concern in particular.

My adult teeth all came in very close and tightly packed together (but not overlapping). But thanks to the orthodontist screwing around with my teeth, they've left a HIGHLY noticeable gap between my top right incisor and the tooth that comes behind it. Think Amy Winehouse if you need a visual. I've complained about it and have asked them to shut the gap since originally there was no gap there. However, they gave me some BS excuse about how my "bone structure" won't allow them to. It was working before! This is despite the fact that the lady wasn't even looking at a chart and I haven't had an x-ray done in over two years to see how my roots are looking.

Do you guys have any suggestions on what I can do? I find it unacceptable to be left with this wide noticeable gap which has been causing me some pain lately (not sure why, but it aches a lot). The head orthodontist and I don't get along because I refused to let him file my incisors down w/o novacaine (very sensative teeth here). I'm not sure what to do at this point about it. :-(
