Figure 8 vs. Wire Tie

#1 Post by KikiloSugilo »

At my last visit to the ortho, I had a slightly rotated tooth tied with a figure 8 configuration. It's been about 3 weeks now, and I have yet to see any progress at all, which annoys me a bit. I began treatment with a different ortho who used wire ties to rotate a few teeth into the correct position with a great deal of success in about 4 weeks. Now my question is, should I casually, but respectfully suggest to my ortho to try the wire tie method? Or should I keep my mouth shut and let him do his thing?

You could phrase it as an inquiry ... "Why aren't you doing a wire tie ?"

I had wire ties on my rotated teeth, btw. They were very effective. Hurt like heck, but they worked !

I had a wire tie around my rotated teeth, but they did something weird, I dont remember but I know they still used the ligatures in the figure eight on it too. IDK

Thanks for the reply guys! I'll certainly ask him about that at my next adjustment.

P.S. Sandra, I had 3 rotated canines that were wire tied and dear God, that was the most painful part of treatment to date! It was about 3 months before those stopped hurting!
