Prior to getting braces I had a brown spot on my bicuspid. The dentist enver said anything about it so asked him what it was. It was indeed a small cavity. It was so small however that it was unrecoginizable in the xray.

I had a stain too that appeared once my teeth moved but I've been for a cleaning twice and they haven't said anything about it and it's on my front lateral tooth so it's in clear view of everyone's eyes. It's really small though. I plan on having my teeth bleached when braces are off so I am not worried. It's probably the same for you but just ask your dentist next time.

I also had brown spots on the back of my teeth that I didn't notice until my dentist said that it was stains and they removed them.

Hi! I have lots of stains on my teeth and have to go for professional cleaning more regularly once I have my braces on. My ortho said some people's teeth stain more easily than others. And he's able to polish off most of the stains. Once I had a decay that look like a brown stain. My dentist didn't know it is decay if he had not used a sharp, long, needle-like tool (sorry I didn't know what its called) to check the area, and discover a hole. He can't tell juz by looking.

Hi there!
Braced in October also!
My front teeth were so darn close it was almost impossible to floss so I developed tartar between where brushes and dentist's hygenists couldn't reach.
Now that the teeth are moving, I can tell by how much because of the brown tartar lines!
That might be a clue to what is going on with your mouth - is it a spot or a line? Probably a spot is more likely decay, whereas a line is more likely tartar deposit.
Either way, get your dentist to treat it ASAP....
My ortho is taking care of the tartar as it becomes exposed. Nice to see white again!
Best of luck!

Hi Tara,
I have a tiny brown spot that is not a cavity and it is not a stain that they can scrape off either. I never saw it until my teeth shifted, it is on the side of a lower molar.
I too was worried it was a cavity, but it turned out just to be a spot that try as they might to scrape it off like other stains it wouldn't come off.
Hope you hear good news at your next check-up.

Take Care,
