spacers for 5 weeks (is this normal?)

#1 Post by roost22 »

my wife got wired on 1/3/08 and two brackets fell off the next day, she got in on monday and they said they were on crowns and they would not try brackets again, they rewired her and put spacers in till her next adjustment which is not till 2/13/08. i think this is to long and they are just to busy to get her in 2 weeks before and i think we should take them out and replace them 2 weeks before. anybody have an opinion?

Spacers are put in and if they fall out just give your wifes ortho a phone call... Maybe they can fit her in to do the adjustment then or replace the spacers with more!

Who knows what could happen at that time... I know that mine stayed in for some time before my appointment!

mine will be in for 1 week tomorrow. I'm getting fitted for an RPE tomorrow and the braces go on the following Thursday --- so, 14 days in the spacers for me.

Today is the first day that my teeth meet with the spacers on. . definitely some shifting going on :) I anticipate that some spacers fall out between now and the day my braces go on.

So who knows --- maybe your wife will have similar results and the spacers won't be need for such a long time.

Mine were in about 10 days. I wouldn't try taking them out yourself. They'll be almost impossible to get back in.

Mine will be in for about 4 weeks, if all goes according to plan.

I got them on yesterday and I'm getting 4 extractions on Saturday. Then once they've healed up (hoping it takes a week) I'll get the bottom spacers removed, but the top ones will stay in for another 2 weeks while I wait for my TPA appliance.
Wisdom teeth extracted: 11/09/07

Est. treatment time: 18 months
In-Ovation C brackets
De-braced: 2/11/10
