3M Clarity & Unitek Brackets

#1 Post by Beckalicious »

I was wondering if anyone on this site has either the 3M Clarity or Unitek brackets on? I was wondering how your like having them on and are they big or are they small for brackets? The ortho I'm highly considering uses those types of brackets and I was just wanting to g et opinions from anyone who has them or has worn them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Becka,

I have Clarity 3M. They are made by Unitek so I'm not sure what others you mean. I only got them fitted yesterday. They are very comfortable but I have never worn fixed braces before so I have nothing to compare them to really.

If you go to my braces story I have just posted a picture of them.

Unitek

#3 Post by Beckalicious »

Hi Spanner,

Thank you for letting me know despite you just got your's on yesterday. I hope it's going well for you. Unitek are the metal version of the Claritys. THe last Ortho whom I had my consultation with informed me of that and they had displays of them on models on their office desk. I'm debating going with all clarity, or doing half clarity and half unitek (metal on bottom). My hubby and I still are figuring out our insurance before I go and get my impressions and x-rays taken. I really appreciate your reply. Thank you.

Thank you for setting me straight!

Thank you for setting me straight on the Company. All they told me in an Email from the Ortho's office were that the metal Brackets were 3M Unitek. I think on the display of them that were on their desk were the Victory Brackets. All I know were the Clarity and the Victory brackets looked the same size as eachother on the display. In another post when I had asked which ortho someone went to in Norhern Virginia, thank you for your suggestion about calling them to set up a consultation with them. I still have one more consultation this month to see what his opinion of treatment would be, but that doesn't mean that a few more consultations and opinions wouldn't be helpful, due to different treatment outcomes from different Orthos. I'm sorry I didin't get to thank you for your advice on the other consultation, sometimes it's hard for me to type while holding a baby who also wants to type with me. I know the next Ortho I have my consultaton with offers the Damon system, which who knows if that's the route he wants to go with for me. I think I've ruled out Invisalign since both Orthos have told me it won't completely work for me. I think My mind is set on whatever will correct the problem entirely and make me happy with the final result. Thank you all for your inputs and reading my rambling. As much as I want to get the ball rolling already and get treatment, my younger sister had mentioned she'd kill me if I get them before her wedding this summer, so I'm going to have to wait until after I get back from her wedding to get them on. It's a good thing I'm giving myself a good chunk of time to wear them for however long I need to before my hubby and I plan our bigger wedding and have them off by then.
