Getting carded more?

#1 Post by TsuKata »

Has anyone else noticed that they're getting carded much more often since getting braced? My DH and I go to A recipe for clams casino a good bit, and I've been carded every single time since I got braced, whereas it had been a good two years since my last carding...at the very same A recipe for clams casino.

I actually haven't notice an increase in ID checks. I'm 25 years old... and most places are supposed to check ID if you look like you're younger than 30. I hardly ever get carded for alcohol anymore, even with the braces. That makes me a little sad...

Before braces I was rarely carded even when I just turned 21 years old... now after braces I get carded every time!

I haven't been carded. At work though some people thought I was my husbands daughter... LOL. Some youger guys tried to guess my age. They thought I was in my early 20's. I don't think it had to do with my braces though. I do look young for my age. I am 35 my husband is 38. He looks his age.

Momof3 I too was mistaken for my husband's daughter when I had braces! (I'm now 26 and he's 24). I personally found it hilarious!

I would/still do get carded pretty much every time I even consider a drink too! (heh, except at really fancy places where they pretty much don't card) Very flattering, but funny too!

Yes i get carded all the time now that I have the braces on - and it makes it even worse since I have blonde hair and I am only 5'3... it usually just happens when i go to a gas station that i don't go to as often

i was just carded this morning for a pack of smokes (i know they are bad!!) and the guy made a big fuss about how i only look 16 and that it doesn't look like me in my ID picture and that i am "lucky" he is just going by the date on the card... blahhh usually its not a big deal but this guy really pissed me off!! LOL

i was like well it is my birthday on friday and i will be turning 21... he didn't even say happy birthday!!

im going to make sure to go there and buy a case of beer on friday just to piss him off lol

Breal, I'm with you on the buying smokes and gettin carded. I went to a gas station that I ALWAYS go to with my other half and a month after I'd been braced the attendant asked for my ID. As my bf told the guy "This is the same gf that's been coming here to buy cigarettes for the past 2 years." The attendant said "But she doesn't even look 18, she looks different." I then explained that it was probably how I was wearing my pajamas with snow flakes on them, a polka dot sweater and my hair in a pony tail. The attendant has not carded me since. I still get hassled with my ID and credit card as those pictures were taken nearly a decade ago and have since changed my hair and am able to close my mouth without looking so simian-like.

I'll be 26 in three weeks... and three weeks ago I was carded for an R-rated movie. Yup. It's the braces. Or the jaw surgery. Or both. All I know is that before all this, I've never been carded for a freakin' R-rated movie:P

Arvensis, that same thing happened to me, too. I could hardly stop laughing and felt like telling the kid at the ticket counter, "sweetie I am old enough I could have been your babysitter years ago." Gotta love how braces make us look so much younger! :D

Edit: In my earlier post on this thread, I meant that my hubby is 34, not 24...oh well
