Silver/grey ligs with ceramics- photos?

#1 Post by dagwoman »

I'm growing tired of the ugly staining from clear ligs, but my ortho doesn't have colours like "pearl" or "smoke", the only one that would be anywhere near as discreet as clear is silver. I'm not wanting to take the leap, though, until I know what they'd look like, but I haven't managed to find any photos, despite searching. So if anyone has photos of silver ligs on ceramics, I would reeeaaally appreciate it if you'd post them!

Cheers,

:) DW

Can't help you with pics, but can say that I found silver ligs to be the most discreet and stain resistant. No amount of curry dented the colour.

Here's one. There was more going on than just ligs in this picture with the sprigs and extra hooks, but you get the idea. These were silver ligs.

breal87 - my guess is that they are metal, not ceramic, but I don't know for sure because that's not my mouth.

See if your ortho can order the Pearl color. I bet they order them periodically and it's just a matter of them ordering that color instead of Clear. Also someone once posted a link where you can purchase your own ligs and take them to the ortho with you and have them put them on. I can't remember the site but maybe someone else on here will.[/list]

Silver are great, top clear ceramic and bottoms metal. I now ONLY use the silver ligs and nothing else. Used to try colors but they just didn't look write to me. I use a white wire as well. Most people don't notice I have braces. Sorry I can't post, most likely you will really like them.

I have silver ligs with ceramics. I've had them for six months or so now and I love them. Barely visible but do far better with stains. :)

Pics are on the bottom of page 6. Actually now that I think about it this is a silver power chain, but you get the idea!

overseasmel and SecondTimer, thanks heaps- those photos are fantastic, and I'm really thinking I'll take the (not so big, but biggish for me) plunge and get silver. And thank you everyone else for your comments :)

I think I'm going to try silver next time.

For my first ligs (powerchain, actually), I had pearl. It's working great stainwise (I smoke and drink coffee, and no noticeable discoloration so far). But over the silver wire, it looks kind of ... I dunno ... milky. Like I got yogurt on my braces and didn't clean it off (yech!)

So I think silver will look a little cleaner, even if it is more noticeable.

Well I think I had the strongest curry in the world today because I got my ligs changed yesterday to silver (on metal) and they still tinted yellow. I thought I was home free!! Its not as gross as the smoke colour+curry would be and most ppl would not notice but I was shocked it change at all!

I too thought silver ligs and powerchains were super powered.....until I ate Palak Paneer. I then had metallic green powerchains and ligs. They stained so evenly and kept their metallic-ness that it looked intentional. The powerchain turned silver again with a few days of brushing with a whitening toothpaste. The green on the ligs faded but if you look closely they still look greenish. Even so, I still like silver the best so far for resisting most staining.

I was thinking of getting silver at my next adjustment---the pictures look great. (Much better than my usual "clear-turned-yellow" look!) Thanks for posting the pictures----
