3 months in w/ start of jaw pain

I have had my upper ceramics for almost 3 months, scheduled to have bottoms put on April 2nd. Over the past week I've noticed my right jaw, right in front of my ear, beginning to hurt (getting a little worse each day) when I chew and open my mouth.

I've never been told I have TMJ, but I do have a crossbite. My bite has changed over these past few months...could this be the cause of the pain? Just my new bite trying to adjust? I've have regular x-rays and had them before I started treatment, wouldnt the ortho have known if there were signs of jaw issues?

I may call the ortho tomorrow but he's the kind that travels to different offices so it may be difficult to track him down so I thought I'd throw this question out there for all of you to see if you've had the same experience.

Can/does jaw pain start AFTER braces are applied and does it continue throughout treatment?
