Nope! I think its a bit rude to be listening to your ipod when someone is doing work on your teeth.

Dunno why I feel that way.....maybe cos its the same as leaving your headphones in while someone is trying to talk to you.

At my orthodontist/dentists office they actually have these at the stations and ask you if you would like to use them.... the ear pieces are covered with what reminds me of what surgeons wear over their shoes... and they just take them off when your appointment is over.

I took mine to the ortho when I got them on but other than that no because I'm usually not there that long.

I've never taken it to the ortho, but my dentist encourages her patients to bring music for procedures like root canals or fillings. Before the days of ipods she had a discman patients could use.

I took my ipod in when I got my teeth pulled.....they were totally fine with it and it calmed me down....however make sure you listen to a song you do not LOVE, as now I still cannot listen to that song without thinking about my teeth being taken out! ugh!!!

nope - I confuse my ortho by uttering muffled comments while he's working on me, plus I like to hear what's going on round me.

I agree with Kitty - I feel it would be disrespectful to my ortho and I like to be able to chat to him.
He also has a very sexy voice - why would I want to blank that out!!!

I meant to, but forgot to bring my ipod to get my braces both on and off. It's pretty common I think, especially for long dental procedures. For a typical short ortho adjustment, no. It's nice to ask questions during an adjustment but I don't see how it's disrespectful to drown out the sound of a drill though. I wish I had it when she was grinding all the glue off my teeth. There's nothing to hear but the drill that whole time. You can turn it off when it is time to talk again.

My dentist actually recommended bringing my iPod to get my pre-braces fillings taken care of, so I did. Unfortunately, the sound of the drill completely drowned out anything I was trying to listen to and the ear phones kept falling out. Eventually, I just gave up. LOL

I didn't bring anything to listen to when I got my braces put on, though. It didn't really take that long, plus I wanted to be able to hear everything they had to say. :D

No, I don't take any Ipods or radios to the appoinments. I want to be able to comprehend what the Dr. and his assistants are doing.

I bring my music to the dentist, but not the orthodontist anymore. I brought it for the day I had them put on and they wouldn't let me use it, because they were going to be giving instructions.

I also have the most awesome orthodontist because they play rather loud music in the background that is my absolute favorite to listen to, so that is what I tend to focus on when they are working in my mouth and not giving me directions to follow. I remember getting my molds being made and focusing in on the music in the background, which saved me from totally freaking out when the grape goop was all over my lips and teeth!

I wore my ipod when while I had my teeth extracted. Other than that, I haven't worn it for my ortho visits. However, I have not been braced yet, but I have had have my spacers put in and out twice, molds made and fittings. I am considering wearing it while I am getting braced simply because of how long they told me it would take to have my braces put on. I don't think its rude unless you know that your visit will require a lot of patient participation and back and forth communication.

Again, haven't been braced yet but it will probably become part of my ortho routine to keep my calm. I don't do well with dental work!
