I have to be honest I did not know until yesterday what jaw surgery was, at least not to align jaws... mostly I imagine it was done when it was broken .
then again I'm not a bright person when it comes to any type of medicine, I study accounting in penn state lol

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v93/m ... CN2078.jpg I see

this huge misalignment on my front 4 teeth ( first 2 of my top and bottom jaw) and they clearly are far apart from one another...

the dentist did not told me I needed it maybe because I would have had to have it and maybe I would have taken the surgery first and forget about him, who knows. anyway tell me what you think I have rubber bands to push out the back front teeth to match those of the lower ones, I was thinking are the rubber bands there also to align my teeth front ones I mean.

any answer is mostly welcome
thanks

Before braces I had a similiar problem. My bite was open where the front 4 teeth on top had no contact with the front 6 on bottom. My ortho never mentioned surgery to me either, but that was because I didn't need it. The elastics have done a really good job of bringing everything together. I had similiar concerns at first, but my ortho explained that he could tell by my xrays that my situation could be fixed without surgery as it was caused more so from my finger sucking habit as a child than from any jaw issues. Don't worry. I'm sure your ortho has a plan for closing that gap. If you are still concerned, you can always just ask!

I have a slight misalignment(upper front teeth), an overbite and according to my new ortho an excessive overjet. 2 years ago, I went to another ortho for a consult. He told me I NEEDED to get surgery to fix my teeth. If I didn't want surgery, they'd have to pull 2 upper teeth to fix my problems.
it's been 2 years and I never did anything about it (too much moving). I just went to another ortho a week ago and he told me I didn't need surgery but that I'd have to have 2 upper teeth pulled in order to fix my teeth. I went to another ortho the following day and he told me that I absolutely did not need surgery or teeth pulled to fix my teeth just braces. He'll be using the elastics to push out my teeth (I also have a crossbite).
I would recommend you get more opinions from other orthos. It's nice to have a list of options to chose from.
