How exactly is this done with orthodontics? I have been in braces for 2 years and at the last minute, instead of having upper and lower jaw sugery. It is lower only (May 8th) My OS said that he would only haved moved my upper jaw by 2mm, and that it wasnt worth it to put me through the pain and such. He talked to my ortho and he is certain he can get 2mm wider in the upper arch. How exactly is this going to be done? Elastics, archwires, or he is talking one of those palete expanders??
I have an overjet, overbite and am having lower jaw advancement. I will ask more specifics when I see the OS on May 5th but after my appt today I was so overwhelemed with other stuff about my surgery. But curiosity has got the best of me about the upper jaw. I hope one of those palette expanders is not in my future?

Most likely, archwires will be used to do that; but elastics or an expander could also be used, especially if the expansion is a little more than 2 mm. Your ortho will be able to fill you in on what will be the best way to approach things!
