When going for your first adjustment.......

#1 Post by dirtybyrd »

What can I expect? Is it common to get a new wire? How are adjustments done? How often would I get a new wire? When I go I will find out what kind of braces I have. Unless I can steal the digital camera from my wife for a few minutes and post pics online for you guys to see. Whatever I have the wire snaps into the braces. Help this newb understand what to expect on my first adjustment. :D

In my case remarkably uneventful. 30 minute drive there, and all of 5 minutes. Assistant takes a pick, scoops off the ligs, sticks in a new wire, snaps on new ligs, and you're done. So far I've had a new wire every visit. I am sure it is different for everyone. But for the first adjustment, nothing much here.

I've been in braces for about 10 months and have only had 2 new wires - but it all depends on what part of the treatment your ortho is working on and what corrections you need.

First we worked on gaps and expansion, and now we're working on tweaking a few teeth to where he wants them before we do the BIG ALIGN on top.

My first adjustment was actually just getting spacers, and my second was getting my appliances installed. When I got my braces on, I had a powerchain to close my major gap issue so he didn't do a real adjustment right away.

My first "real" adjustment was that first new wire, prior to that it was just lig changes while in for the other stuff.

My first adjustment was just new ligs also. I had sapphire uppers and Damon lowers, so my new ligs were uppers only (duh!). And, the ortho checked everything just to make sure I was doing all right.

My first adjustment consisted of getting new ligs on my upper 5's and a new wire on the bottoms.
