I havent feared losing one but then if my orthodontist was an hour away I'd worry! mine is down the road thankfully.

My teeth are still really painful....it feels pressure on the teeth that have no spacers and funny thing if I stick my fingernail where the pressue is at then it like shifts my tooth just ever so slightly to remove the pressure for a short moment. feels better but I look like a DORK sticking my finger in my mouth all the time. lol

Day 5 now and I'm feeling like these things are torture....still praying for someone to cancel so I can get in early. whoever thought I'd be so encouraged to get braces on? Anything is better than these spacers.

I've resorted to ibuprofen but I dont like meds so much....

I dunno, but we should be grateful to them, really. I know how uncomfortable spacer are, but when I was 12 I had molar bands put on without spacers, and that remains to this day the most unpleasant memory of my life. It took about half an hour per tooth, and he was pretty much hammering them on the whole time. Awful!

[quote="tortor"]I had spaces in for 2 weeks, and let me tell you, every day of it was hell!

Did you have extremely tight and crowded teeth? Were you able to get floss very easily between the teeth you had spacers between?

Just curious - as I am able to very easily floss between the teeth where my spacers will go. I've heard so many stories about spacers from people who felt nothing to others who had pain - wondering what makes the difference.

I only had spacers for 7 days. Mine stuck up a bit too, but I had no problem eating. They really hurt for the first 3 - 4 days, but after that it wasn't too bad, just kind of awkward. However, once I went in for my braces, they said that they weren't going to do the rings around my teeth so the spacers were unnecessary. I really appreciate the fact that they tortured me for nothing! Grr!

I couldn't agree with you more!!

I'd take years of braces over a week in spacers!!

I had my spacers for I think 5-6 days.

Just bare with it. It sucks but most of us have been through it.

Why do they put spacers in and bands on but then the wire doesnt extend to the back to the bands on top?
