Miley Cyrus or Hannah Montana has linguals.

I wondered if she did, because sometimes i catch a hint of a "lisp" so I did some research. Turns out she got them on in 06

Here's the trivia fact

She had to have braces put on her teeth in early 2006, but because the dentist's was able to hide them by putting on the other side of her teeth, no one notices them.

and the link of where I got my information from

http://www.tv.com/miley-cyrus/person/242298/trivia.html

Yeah, I know I have too much time on my hands searching for useless trivia!
Braced for the third time.....

final adjustment 8/21 and debanding 8/27!

I knew there had to be a reason for that slight lisp!
I always thought she had some sort of bite plate or retainer...
Mystery solved!

yeah... i work in the entertainment industry -- and i could be wrong - but I think she actually had veneers because she literally just stepped out one day with straight teeth. be careful what you read on tv.com because like wikipedia and imdb, those facts are inputted by regular people - anyone can go into those sites and edit the information.

i agree that she would have been a good role model to a lot of kids had she gotten regular braces, but i think at the same time she probably would have been put through a lot of ridicule that would have affected her job.
not that flashy half naked pictures are any better, but still.

I agree bracednconfused - she had a it of a wonky lateral and it was fixed overnight. It is too bad she didn't go the braces route, but you never know...maybe Disney didn't give her much of a choice.

Her bottom teeth have had a huge hump for so long. I wonder how she got to be her age without having braces before this. Her daddy has to have been able to afford them.

As Meryaten said, why not SHOW THEM OFF! She's such a huge roll model to so many teens, why not use her celeb to make other teens with braces feel "normal" or "cool".

Who knows!!

She does have lingual braces! An 8 year old girl I sometimes babysit showed me an article where she mentioned them - she gets very excited that I have braces just like her, LOL.

It would have been great if she got traditional braces to be a good role model for young girls - however we have to keep in mind that she herself is a young girl! Especially being in show business and being contstantly in the public eye, I'm more than sure that she didn't want braces herself. Young girls (like Miley herself) have role models that are older. I'm sure she idolized women like Jessica Simpson and Kelly Clarkson, neither of whom have braces. Its nice for women in their late teens and early twentys to be good role models, but it would have been a lot to ask the young girl at such a sensitive age to take such a step in the public eye. At least she hasn't developed an eating disorder or started taking drugs - I can handle lingual braces if she doesn't turn into Lindsay Lohan : )

I also wonder if it wasn't her decision, but that of her manager(s) and/or publicist.

I don't know if she has lingual braces on or not. I have to say that I've also noticed her on tv and recent pictures of her and her teeth are wayyyy straighter now !You can't have straight teeth in a month! lol unless she got veneers . I saw her on the cover of some magazine and the teeth really looked like veneers. She didn't have horrible teeth but she had noticable crowding and her canines were a little higher up ....

I had a very large gap in my teeth that closed in a couple of weeks after getting my braces on. I saw a HUGE improvement in DAYS.

Plenty of people on this forum have had wonky teeth that fixed up quickly.

You do not see celebrities every day. You see photos that appear, and you do not know when they were taken - just when they were published.

PS; Her own website confirms the linguals, or they did when my sister was getting braced and I showed her that her idol had braces.

Miley Cyrus braced for Disney stardom

By David Hiltbrand
KNIGHT RIDDER NEWS SERVICE

May 20, 2006

Miley Cyrus has just left the dentist's office. The verdict: The 13-year-old needs braces. A very Hollywood compromise is reached: Attaching the buttresses to the inside of her teeth.

You can see it in the below, bottom right molar. Also after and befores, note mega big pix all of them.

I thought I'd read somewhere she did have traditional braces for a short time when she was 10/11. Looks like it in that pic....hmmmm?

I think it's great that Miley's website tells you she has linguals. I found out about linguals in a newpaper article, about a sky new reader that had them. I decided to go for lingual uppers rather than implants (regular lowers were always a part of my treatment plan). Until I read the article I just didn't know linguals were an option. I'm so happy I found out about them, they are cheaper than the implant work I required, and until they implant plan the work will last me a life time. I am all for people knowing what clinically appropriate treatment options they have open to them.

Like with Miley some people think I had veneers! My upper teeth have moved very visably in the space of 2 months and I have a temporary tooth where a milk tooth was pulled, to be ground down to non-existence throughout the treatment, so I guess in a way they are kind of right, there is something that is not my own tooth in the mix.
