Figure 8 ligs?

Figure 8 ligs?

Does anyone know if there is a reason why they put ligs in a figure 8?

The first set of ligs they put on normally and at my first adjustment she put a few ligs on top and bottom in the figure 8. But the figure 8 ligs are here and there.

I didnt know why she did that?

I only have one figure of 8 lig on my braces and that is on the top left end tooth where I don't have a ring bracket thingie (LOL I'm not good on the terminology, but the big metal ring they put round your back teeth and the wire normally ends in there) as the only ones the ortho had were squashed (he was not a happy chappy). Got a funny feeling when he has unsquashed one a big ring thing is going on instead.

So I'm guessing it's to hold the wire in more securely?
