Electric toothbrush recommendations please :)

#1 Post by Memran »

Hi,

I'm still using a manual brush, and I think my teeth would benefit from something with a bit more 'oomph' ;)

Living in UK, and not sure if at makes much difference whats available. I probably don't want to spend too much more than £50, but if you guys think something is really worth more than that, I'll still concider it.

Thanks :)

well to answer your question i did a little research,
so far i found that most people and reviews say that the Rota-Dent Electric toothbrush, is best.. ( mind you that im unbias in this ) but as for cost i found it for about 100$-200$ which is steep in my opinion, as a kick back i heard good things about a sonicare toothbrush.. im not too sure how the pound and dollar compair.. but just what i found... best of luck hope it answers ur question a bit..

I use a Sonicare. Don't worry about the price. Compared to the price of treating gum problems or cavities any electric toothbrush is cheap, and I think electric toothbrushes do a better and more consistent job than manual brushes. I used to use a manual toothbrush until last year and wish I wasn't so cheap before that. :x

I have a Sonicare Elite. It was recommended by my dentist, after I got my first post-braces cleaning (it wasn't very auspicious - I turned out to be a plaque machine). And, the dentist recommended that my non-brace-wearing husband use it also because he was wearing down the enamel on his teeth with his manual brushing.

My recommendation is that you check out the Dental Doo-Dads board for more discussion on electric brushes. And, that you check out Ebay if and when you decide to buy one. The prices were much better there.

Rotadent, Rotadent, Rotadent! I've been using it since day one--they make a huge difference.

I got an Oral-B Professional Care 8000, mainly because there was a range of brush heads which seemed to suit my braces.

Just waiting for it to charge up now :)

I am using the new oral b vitality spin brush and absolutley love it!! It was actually given to me by my orthodentist in my care package when i got my braces put on. I love it. It makes my mouth feel so clean after and its feels like my gums are getting a massage when i use it. it doesn't pull at the bracets either! i love it. I'm not sure how much it is as it was given to me in my care package on my B day but its definetly well worth it! An electric toothbrush would probably be far better at cleaning your teeth for sure. for travelling i use a mini travelling toothbrush that designed specifically for people who have braces on. good luck on your hunt!!

Wow, some of you got nice swag from your orthos!

I've been using the sonicare elite for the past year and half and have found it to be great. Since i got brackets (no wires yet) 2 weeks ago, I can feel the brush heads getting worn down daily, and at about $30 for a pack of 2 (from Costco), they're not cheap to replace. Still, the health of your teeth is worth more than that.
