Newbie seeking advice

#1 Post by WeddingBelle »

Hi everyone

I'm new to the forum but wanted to say how helpful I found this site when preparing to get my teeth done. I'm getting married next June, which has forced me to take the plunge and get my teeth done as I don't want to hate my smile in my wedding pics. Fortunately treatment plan is only scheduled to last 12 months!

As of yesterday afternoon, I am now the proud(?!) owner of a set of Damon braces on upper and lower teeth and a wonderfully comfortable (yeah, right!) bite turbo on my upper front tooth!

Just wondered if anyone could help with a couple of questions:

  • 1. Does anyone know where you can buy dental wax in the UK? Helpfully my dentist had run out yesterday and isn't expecting new stock until 10 days' time -

    2. Does anyone have any tips to stop your braces sticking to your lips? Haven't really got any pain at the moment but having to keep unsticking my lips before I answer the phone at work is getting really irritating!!

    Thanks all!

Hey there, welcome to the forum, and congratulations on the start of your Journey!

I think Boots might sell dental wax? Maybe at the chemist counter if not near the toothbrushes and stuff...worth a look!
And lipbalm helped with the unsticking, and drinking lots of fluids to keep your mouth hydrated!

I haven't seen wax at any high street shops, but great to know boots keep it behind the counter. I buy on line at www.orthostore.uk, although I have bought if from a dentist other than my own when I was on holiday and forgot to pack it, I looked under orthodontist in the yellow pages and rang round until I found one who was open and sold it.

Hi weddingbelle

congrats on becoming braced!

I'm in the UK too and not seen any wax in any high street shops (I got told to go to boots too and they had nada)
My dentist sells wax so might be worth popping to your dentists to see if they have any.
Other than that, I've bought from here:
https://www.orthoshop.co.uk/acatalog/Wa ... ctors.html

very quick delivery. But I would steer clear of the braceze...that's scary stuff :?

hiya - i stocked up on dental wax via ebay!! have 8 packets flying around my various handbags, work place and flat...

its about £3-4 per pack... and delivery took a few days! I think you just search for dental wax or brace wax...

:) happy waxing!!

Thanks all. Yep, had no luck at Boots yesterday unfortunately so have been online and ordered some. Thanks for all the ideas!! Can't believe you can't buy this stuff in shops, just think how many people in teh UK must have braces!!

Now got to get off the dentist's again as I think my bite turbo is in the wrong place as it's stopping on my lower braces rather than the top of my bottom teeth - aaargh, still, no pain no gain!
