Bite plate removed due to TMJ pain

#1 Post by bfrod »

Ice brackets on top for 3 months now-doing great.

Bite plate put on 1 month ago and was suppose to have metal lower brackets put on today.

I've been having left side TMJ pain since they put the bite plate on and I thought my jaw was just adjusting to it. I mentioned it to the tech and doctor and they immediately removed it to prevent further TMJ problems.

So what do I do now???

I needed the bite plate so I wouldn't bite off the bottoms with my deep overbite. I have to wait 4 weeks to see if the pain goes away without the bite plate. Not sure how I will be able to wear the bottom braces now if I can't wear a bite plate.

HELP!

They can put in bite turbos or molar build ups to prevent this from happening either on your molars or back behind your front teeth. I have severe TMJ, but also bite off my brackets. They finally put me in the turbos behind my two front teeth and I have finally stopped eating my brackets for lunch!

Thank you for the reply.

I didn't have a chance to find out what the plan will be now but I'm glad there are options.

Oooo, hope I don't have brackets for lunch either. :)
