I am flipping out!!! I notice that my face hasn't looked right recently, but thought it was due to the lower teeth after my ortho installed a spring on the front teeth along with power chains. But after close examination, I notice that my top teeth on both sides have been pushed inwards making my face have a sunken look. I am on vacation and won't be home for two weeks. I don't understand the process of why the ortho is moving my teeth this way. I had a small overbite, so why bring my side upper teeth inwards giving me a sunken face...
Any thoughts? I know, when I return from vacation I will see the otho and tell him my concerns.
thanks for listening,
best,
LN

The sunken look is more than likely temporary, so do the best you can to relax.
The springs are used to either create space or close space. They hurt like nothing else on Earth and they will change the "shape" of things for a while... trust me... as I have had quite a few of them used up front to move things around. The pain from the springs has been the worst pain ever, even worse than my constant changing arrangements of elastics!
I keep on having to remind myself that things will LOOK WORSE before they LOOK BETTER. Your teeth don't just go from messed up to perfect overnight, it will take some shifting and moving and adjusting and settling.
Do your best to enjoy the vacation time and don't worry about the appearance right now. It will change as your teeth continue to move and your ortho continues to adjust the bite.
