Ahhhhhhhh Not 1 but 2 !!!!!

#1 Post by Traceymay »

Hi all, just had to post to vent my frustration, and maybe get a bit of advice.

I've been braced (uppers only) for just over 11 months and I'm on the final tweeking stage (only a couple to go my ortho told me).

I went for a "tweek" on the 11th July in the morning, when I got home things just did not feel right, so I had a good look in the mirror to find that the back bracket (the silver one with the tube had come off!) not to worry i thought, phoned the ortho, only to be told that he was now on holiday and the soonest I could see him was the 29th.

Anyway last night, the other back silver bracket with the tube has come off

The only good thing I can think is that at least I'm even on both sides, and I must say that my bite has become comfortable again.

fortunately all my brackets are linked together with a power chain, so at least the loose ones are being held in place.

Does anyone think that this is going to affect my progress in a major way?

Thanks for your thoughts in advance.

It's hard to say how it will affect you. But when my brackets fell off (several times) my ortho never considered it an emergency. Two of them he just left off and never replaced. One of them he replaced with a band.

If its teeth further in back it may not be a huge deal. At my most recent adjustment they left the wire out of the last two brackets on one side of my bottom teeth because I kept griding it (and now the repositioned the bracket on the same tooth on the other side and its doing the same thing) and they wanted to let the tooth move on its own so that my bite felt more comfortable. The ortho said it wouldn't extend my treatment time at all.
I mean, in the end I guess it depends on your teeth and treatment plan, but I honestly don't see it being too big of a deal or extending your treatment time by much, if any at all.
