Tomorrow is the big D day!!

#1 Post by LUV2SING »

Hi guys, I just wanted to post my last night wearing braces. I am set to have them removed tomorrow at 8:40am. I'm extremely nervous because I keep hearing there is pain involved. I think I'm more nervous about how they're going to look. I have to sing this weekend, finally without the braces getting in the way! I'd like to thank everyone on this board for the encouragement and constant sharing of info. It's made my time much more bearable knowing I'm not the only one going through this as an adult. Good luck to all of you and hang in there. There is light at the end of the tunnel. I'll post after I get them off. Here's to my last day as a brace face!! :D

Well, I'm brace free finally! The removal was interesting. They popped the brackets off so fast it was amazing. One molar band decided to be difficult and it took her a few tries to wrench that one out. No pain. Then came the scraping of the glue. The sound was horrible. But, no pain. Then the doctor came in and started up the dremel. Some of my teeth were a bit sensitive, so he kept moving around to different teeth. He turned the cold air off to finish up the front teeth. My teeth are sore like after one of my first adjustments. It didn't stop me from eating a hot dog with no knife and fork. Yeah!! When I looked in the mirror, it looked like someone else's teeth. They do seem huge to me. I feel like I'm missing something. I keep wanting to put my elastics in. The doc did a fabulous job and my teeth are beautiful. I can't wait to whiten them so they blind people. It was definitely worth it.

Singing in braces

#5 Post by karencoutts »

Congratulations on your big day! I am at the beginning of the journey, so it's inspiring to read of someone at the end.

I am also an avid singer and I was wondering how my braces would influence my singing. I sing as a soloist and in choral groups as well. Is it going to stop me from singing words quickly? We just did a song which was quite difficult (El Hambo-- listen to it on YouTube!) and I wonder if I'm going to let the group down if I can't enunciate properly.

Just curious. I am planning to get braces no matter how it influences my singing.

Deleted this post-- system somehow showed error in posting "debug" so I posted the same entry twice.
