Veneers?

#1 Post by married2abuckeye »

I had my 2nd-to-last adjustment today (yay! ) and my ortho told me that my top inscisors are "very small" in proportion to my other teeth (not the 2 front ones, but the ones next to the canines). He recommends I get my dentist to put veneers on them after the braces come off. I don't really have a problem with this, but I was wondering if anyone else has had it done. Anyone with veneers? Just wondering what the cost might be for 2 teeth...

Thanks

Do a search for "peg laterals" and you will find it isn't uncommon at all!

I have peg incisors and right now, I have composite bonding on the two teeth. I was SHOCKED with the drastic change after they did the composite bonding in the office, as I had no idea how much of a difference it would make in my smile. Here is a link to my set of pictures done at 7months, with my before pictures there too: http://onlypurples.wordpress.com/2008/0 ... -pictures/ I had just had my bonding done that morning and I literally started crying in the office after they did it!! The results have helped my self esteem so much, as the gaps were almost as large as the teeth were before.

I haven't spoken with my ortho about getting veneers put on these two teeth yet, but I have mentioned it to my dentist. When I am closer to debanding, I'm going to try and get it done. I want to make sure my retainers are molded with my veneers in place -- I know I want it done immediately! My two offices have always worked closely together up to this point, so I am not suspecting any problem... but like I said, I have yet to bring it up to the ortho because I'm only about half way through treatment (according to my estimate and the ortho has not offically told me any shorter period, however a tech has told me I'm possibly ahead of schedule).

I had a cost estimate on veneers from my dentist a few months ago. She said it would be about $1000 per tooth (this is in Canada) and that it is best to do a grouping of 4 to 6 teeth so that they all match. Yikes!! Too expensive for me.

I was also wondering, how soon after braces can you get veneers? how would you work retainers?

^^^ I think it really has to do with how well your ortho and your regular dentist can cooperate. I have been told they can be done immediately and that your retainers can literally be molded after you get your veneers put on -- with minimum delay.

My son's vaneers cost $1000 for each tooth.

He had them a few years after braces were removed so I can't help on that question, only on the cost.

Best wishes to you!!
