Question about Powerchains...

#1 Post by Raven78 »

I went for my 3rd adjustment yesterday and ow did it hurt. At my last adjustment they put a powerchain on just my front 2 bottom teeth to help close a gap that was made since I got my braces. It helped a little but not alot.

At this appointment they put a powerchain on the 6 bottom teeth in the front to try and close the gap even more. And my teeth hurt soo bad. Within hours. Good thing I ate right away. LOL

Anyways my question is..... My Ortho Asst. put my powerchain on first then the wire then regular elastics. My problem is getting behind them to clean. I have used the "christmas tree" brushes and still have trouble getting everything out. Ugghhh.

Has anyone else had this problem and was able to figure something out that worked. Thanks

Do you have a waterpick? I just got a power chain put on my front 6 lowers on my last adjustment and i found it hard to clean my teeth as well.

The waterpick cleans it very well and also I use those little gum soft picks which are very tinny and it brushes in and around or the thinnest proxy brushes. I have damons which dont have elastics around the bracket so I guess mine are easier to clean than yours with the power chain on........I hope I helped a little.

I definitely feel your pain! I've had a powerchain along the bottoms from 6-6 for about 5 months already. For the last 3, I've had a zing string over my wire and then a powerchain on top of that. It started along the lower centrals, then at the next appointment it went across my incisors and now I have it from 3-3. It's such a pain to clean. I use my floss and then my proxy brush. Everything gets caught, YUCK!!!
