newbie question

#1 Post by Elgordo »

Hello all...I am a new member here but have been lurking on this site for about two weeks. I am 29 years old and recently got braces put on my top teeth to correct an overjet. The ortho said it was about 6-7 mm... I actually never noticed until my dental hygenist brought it to my attention. Fast foward and here i am. I found an ortho who said he did not need to extract any teeth and while the other two orthos thought otherwise. My question is ... has anybody had an overjet fixed without extracting any teeth? Any answer will be appreciated.

hello Meryaten thank you for the reply. I actually was going through your website yesterday... I didnt think you were gonna get the surgery but your progrees was awsome. The ortho i chose said he didnt need to extract while two other orthos wanted to extract . Anyway he never said anything about me needing surgery and said he has fixed overjets without having to extract. I had my top bracket put on the 10th of september and had lilltle ipr done on my first six. I made it clear before i started treatment that extracting teeth is not an option and he says he dont reccomend exrtactions on anyone because he said it makes the face look flat. Ill try and post a pic tommorrow.

Thats exatly what he said he was going to do. He said my treatment would be around 24 months maybe sooner. My teeth on top really are not to crooked but the right side pre molar on the bottom is kind of going in ward and also have a little crowdind in the front as well but not to bad. Thank you Meryten your answer helped alot.
