Hi Everyone.

I had IPR done for the first time today. It was NOT BAD AT ALL. I thought it would have been horrible, but it was actually VERY EASY!

Anyway, I kind of wish she would have shaved more off than what she did. I don't think that this is going to close my gap all of the way. If it doesn't close it all the way, will she be able to shave more off later, or is it a one-time only deal? If they can do it again, how much can they shave off? Sorry for all of the questions, but I HATE this black triangle and I want it GONE! It is between my top front teeth...grrrr! Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Stacey

I had it done 3 seperate times. They have to shave a tiny amount at a time, otherwise you'll end up with pain and sensitivity for awhile.

Better to take a little at a time then too much in one go!

I would speak to your dentist. I think there are recommended maximum amounts you can remove from the different categories of teeth. It should also be varied according to your teeth - some people have more enamel than others. My IPR varies from 0.4mm to 0.2mm.

Personally I would see how the teeth look first before talking to your dentist about taking any more off!
Initial set: 31 upper / 17 lower
1st refinement: 14 upper / 10 lower
2nd refinement: 10 upper / 5 lower
