Anyone else have lots of pain after more than a month?

#1 Post by beachmommy »

As you can see, I've had the braces on for several weeks now. I have not had a non-painful moment in this entire time. I am chewing things because I am starving, and doing the bite thing but nothing helps. Ibuprofren helps a tiny bit but my teeth even hurt while I'm sleeping. Just wondering if anyone else suffered for quite a while. On a scale from 1 to 10, the pain is never lower than a 7, and it's usually an 8.

Thanks!

I think that the discomfort is probably a sign that your teeth are indeed moving around. All good in the long run, but I can appreciate not good in the short run. Getting braces and teeth moving around in the bone is quite a shock to the system. If you find the pain unreasonable, I would call your ortho to see if he or she has any advice.

I thought I was also going nuts for having pain for so long too. But trust me/us: we do get used to the braces and it gets much better with time. I think some of us are just really extraordinarily sensitive. I know I am. But even then, I am now somewhat "confortable", after 2 months. Adjustments are hell, but then it subsides.

Hang on. Just hang on. Talk with the ortho to see if everything is ok and in place correctly. Then wait.

Courage!! It should get better!

I have not had consistent pain but I do get temporary episodes where a few teeth hurt and then stop. I have an adjustment in a few weeks and now my central incisors are killing me. Just keep taking OTC pain relievers and you should be ok hopefully.
