I'm only 2 1/2 weeks into an estimated 2 year journey so I'm not planning anything yet. I guess I'm lucky becuase I'm already eating sandwiches with no problem. My teeth don't show a lot unless I raise my upper lip so while eating in public I just try to keep my lip over my braces to avoid any gross food displays :)

The list of things not to eat hasn't impacted my life. Since I was a kid there are some things I don't eat because the food gets stuck between my crowded teeth LOL. So, I'm not missing popcorn and corn on the cob. Very seldom eat them. I don't even like to bite into apples because the peeling would get stuck between my teeth. I'm careful with sticky chewy things because of having a few crowns and a few years ago having a crown that didn't like to stay on.

So, I'm finding it funny that I "can't" eat popcorn and corn on the cob.

I mostly chew Trident and Extra sugar free stick gums, not the "chicklet" style. I've never had issues with them sticking to my brackets (I have ceramics on top and metal bottoms). However, when you first start chewing the gum and it is kind of soft, it can sometimes catch on the wires. I find that chewing it after I eat helps to dislodge some of those annoying little food bits if I don't have a chance to get to the washroom and brush or whatever.

I also like to chow down on gummi worms, but they take a little more skill than gum :)

Another vote for corn on the cob. Somehow it isnt quite as delicious when I have to cut it off the cob. The caramel popcorn sounds really good too.

I also plan to go buy a brand new bright red lipstick. I have mainly been wearing lip balm since the braces went on, partly because my lips keep getting stuck on my brackets, and partly because I still dont feel like drawing that much attention to my teeth/braces. :(

I still have 18+ months to go though, so we'll see...I might get brave enough to wear bright lipstick with braces... :)

Well it's not really a craving, but i really want to get my teeth whitened. I also want to be able to comfortably bite through a sandwitch, or an apple, or anything for that matter.

It's not like the things I crave are things I ate that much, but it's like the forbidden fruit. For some whacky reason I miss Milk Duds and Snickers. I've also tried to stay away from curry and red wine.

ohmy gosh, i totally agree about the corn on the cob situation. While its nice to be able to eat the corn still while its cut off the cob, there is just somthing about it that is just not the same and satisfying! How I miss being able to eat corn on the cob! *sighs ah well soon enough I'll be back at it again!!!

My 'eat it when I get the braces off' food is a Snickers bar! They are my favorite, and I haven't had one since getting braced, in Feb. They have a couple no-no's--nuts and caramel. I have eaten a Twix, so I knwo the caramel is no problem, but I am afraid to do the nuts with the braces. Even if I did I know I wouldn't enjoy it, so if I wait, I can savor it, and it will be worth it!!

first thing post-braces will be burning to ashes the traveller toothbrush which I have been carrying with myself for cleaning up my teeth after lunch at work!! :D I have been able to eat pretty much every thing while in metal braces, so I don't have any special cravings like ceramics people might have. I miss flirting with the fairer sex (I know.. it's not the braces that stop me but myself. But I can't help it. I feel inhibited with all this metal.... ), so I will probably head straight to some bars and put the new smile to work.

I just got a debanding date of Dec 18th and the first thing I'm doing is heading straight to the dentist for a good cleaning and some tooth shaping!!

After that I'll probably go sink my teeth into something yummy and then let my son giggle at mommy's new look. He's 10 months old and constantly wanting to get his little fingers on my braces. I'm sure he will have a great reaction when he sees me without them :D

I did not have anything special in my mind other than have a teeth cleaning and a checkup. After it was found out that i had two cavities i wanted them to be filled asap. And they were fixed 20 hours later :)
