You have a beautiful smile. I don't know much about treatments for bimax protrusion, but I'm sure a consultaion or two can help you make the decision.

Speaking of agendas, what is your agenda for being on here? You seem to always defend orthodonture
.

neilar,
You do realize that you are posting on an site for people undergoing orthodontic treatment, don't you? We have questions that we would like to have answered, and we look for support from one another.

For what it's worth, Meryaten has had braces and surgery too. She has kindly done countless hours of research and shares it with us as needed. I for one really appreciate her knowledge and I hope she is able to continue contributing to this forum in the future.
Just FYI, those are not my pics. I kind of hijacked the thread to express my concern regarding a rather insensitive comment.

neiler: It is becoming clear to me you have real issues. I hope you seek out help for them because something is terribly wrong. Why would you come on here and dismiss orthodontia? LOOK AROUND...I'd say 99%+ of people on here are extremely happy with their treatment and results. So, how can you say things such as you hate to see orthodontists ruin good smiles? Of course there are bad OD's out there (I can vouch for that!!), but to make such a dismissive and uninformed statement is just wrong. Please stop posting these types of statements...They just don't do anybody ANY GOOD. If you are unhappy with your results, I am very sorry - my only advice is stop the pity party and do something about it. Your commentary on this board is not an appropriate outlet for your frustration.

And if the beautiful woman (who I agree has a GREAT SMILE) who started this post is still reading this, please make your decisions based in fact. The only way to get that is to go to as many consultations as you can - I really believe you'll know what one is the "right one". There is great information on this board, but none of us are Doctors and please don't determine a treatment plan based on what you read here. We are here to support each other and share information.

And since I am rambling...neilar...take 5 minutes and read some of Meryaten's posts. How dare you accuse her of some hidden agenda...shame on you.

I didn't know that to be on this message board you had to be pro braces. I was never informed of such a rule. It seems that if I have a differing opinion, I'm attacked. Merytan, you tell me that I'm stubborn for not seeing things your way - well, I could call you stubborn too for not seeing things my way. Can we not agree to disagree? Both of you act like I wrote something terrible. The woman asked for advice, and I told her she looked great as is. What's so terrible about that? Instead, both of you have made personal attacks against me. Chicago, regarding having problems, we all have problems at some phase of our life, and why would you put someone down for that? You both have attacked me, and I don't appreciate it. I no longer will respond to either of you - now or in the future. Go ahead, get the last word.

So much has taken place since I last posted.

Well, I was scheduled to have the 4 teeth extracted Thurdsay afternooon.. my dentist called Thursday morning and said he did not feel comfortable extracting the teeth because he could not offer IV sedation and felt that was needed.

So, he referred me to an oral surgeon for the extraction. Which means, I will not be getting started until the beginning of December...

Thanks for everyone's feedback.. Yes, most people think I have a beautiful smile.. but, I don't like it, so I will aim to fix it.. I will continue reading and try to make an informed decision before I do anything too drastic.

I guess my dentist saved me in a way.

My daughter said my teeth look like a beaver.. she is 9 :-((

Ok.. I'm not getting into if orthodontics/extractions are right are wrong!!

Personally, I think i am probably in the same boat as Neilar. I had several extractions and braced when I was in my teens. I do wonder if i was having braces for the first time.. would i have had so many extractions??
However. cant change the past. Also had my wisdom teeth removed.. Which caused me no pain or discomfort at all,i was 18 at the time.

I believe my profile has been affected by extractions, and the 'pull them back' era of Orthodontics.
I could be wrong, and maybe inherited my Father's narrow jaw.
My lower teeth especially are all crowed in. Giving me that dished in looked.. I hate them.

So that is why, when I see lovely prominent teeth.. I feel envious!

Guy's dont beat me up here! I'm not being lighthearted about overbites and i know some can cause real problems. If I had slightly more prominent teeth. i would be happy. At least they would be seen.

I've had lots of consultations, and as yet to take the leap. I'm worried that because of extractions, if teeth move i will be left with lots of gaps.
If I could work out posting photos i would!
Thanks to the people who have tried to show me!
