Bit of a long story but I went got damon braces wasnt too happy with the dentist who put them on. He didn't know what a treatment plan or estimation of costs really was and I was quite stressed out at the thoughts of going to him as he broke both my fillings on my front teeth & tried to pretend he didnt. He told me it would take 1 year which surprised me.
So I went and got a 2nd opinion and was happy enough with what he said - he said he would have to take out 2 teeth if I was not going for jaw surgery and that it would take 1 1/2 years. He showed me the x-rays he had taken.
My damon braces on the top teeth are on since Sept 13th and my bottom are on since Oct 4th. I have just got a call back from the new ortho who informs me that he doesn't have any appointments until 15th Dec & that I will have to go to my dentist to get the other 2 teeth removed (the new ortho will take the brackets off the 2 teeth that need to come out). He told me to make the appointment for the extractions for a week before 15th.
But that will mean that my top braces are going to be on for over 14 weeks and bottom for 12. Im worried that this is going to stop the progress that my teeth have already made. I all stressed and worried. I hope I have made the right decision but is December just too late.
Also I have the problem of going away next week for a few days and then I have exams on 9/10th Dec. I was thinking of getting my two teeth extracted on maybe 11th Dec and there is an appointment for 15th Dec but would 4 days be enough for healing?? I can also get an appointment for 22nd Dec with new ortho.
Sorry for the long winded story but just need a little advice and someone to ease my mind.
Thanks

Well, if your first ortho didn't know what he was doing, then you're only "stopping" a treatment plan where the ortho's plan wasn't what you wanted. I would consider this a good thing. Your new ortho will eventually have your teeth where they're supposed to be.But that will mean that my top braces are going to be on for over 14 weeks and bottom for 12. I've read posts on the boards where people get extractions and braces within days of each other. Also I have the problem of going away next week for a few days and then I have exams on 9/10th Dec. I would probably opt for the later appointment, just to get fully adjusted after extractions but if being without braces is a big concern for you, then maybe you should opt for the earlier appointment.
