How likely is it to go from an overbite to an underbite?

#1 Post by uncdl »

I went to the ortho last Friday and I had previously been wearing elastics on the right side for my overbite. He said I should wear them on both sides now. I went in today to get my arch wire trimmed and the assistant asked to see my bite and told me that I need to watch my teeth in case an underbite starts to develop and to call them right away if it does. Is it common to go from an overbite to an underbite or vice versa? I would never have thought to be "watching" for that...

Sounds pretty hard to me, considering that the normal bite has a slight overbite.. so if an underbite were to be developing, you would be able to notice it pretty quickly
